Cannabis is made up of several different cannabinoids. The two most well-known found in cannabis are cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Consuming THC causes the “high” feeling, while CBD does not. CBD is sometimes used as a medical treatment for many conditions.

CBD

This is a psychoactive cannabinoid, yet it’s non-intoxicating and non-euphoric, meaning it won’t get you “high.” It’s often used to help reduce inflammation and pain. It may also ease nausea, migraine, seizures, and anxiety. Researchers are still trying to fully understand the effectiveness of CBD’s medical use. Some CBD products contain THC, but they will not produce a “high” feeling if the THC amount is lower than 0.3%.

THC

This is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis. THC is responsible for the “high” that most people associate with cannabis. It affects brain function, perception, and mood when consumed.
